What is Single Incision Surgery?
Single incision surgery, is an advanced, minimally invasive technique that allows the surgeon to operate exclusively through a single entry point, typically the patient’s navel. This results in one single incision which often is not visible because it is hidden within the navel. Hence, the term scarless surgery. In traditional laparoscopic surgery, a telescopic rod connected to a video camera or laparoscope is inserted through a small incision in the abdomen. Three to five additional incisions are made and used as ports, where the other necessary surgical instruments are inserted. There are different ways that single incision is performed. Laparoscopic, Spider platform and Single Incision Robotic Surgery are all procedures that we offer. You may find out if you are a candidate by contacting us for a consultation.
